This guide book was researched and written by University of Toronto undergraduate students for Toronto Climate Action Network (TCAN), as part of an undergraduate final year Multidisciplinary Urban Capstone Project (MUCP), with the School of Cities.

This collaboration was in support of TCAN’s Collective Impact project with the City of Toronto, focused on the question “How can the City enable, equip, and empower community-led climate action in support of the implementation of the Net Zero by 2040 Strategy?”, with a goal of improving climate engagement with equity-owed groups and communities.

The team of students identified that young people, as an equity-owed group, have been inadequately engaged in climate action and decision-making.

Over the course of the 2023-24 academic year, the team designed a creative and interactive installation, and researched and presented this guide of best practices, ethical considerations, tools, resources, and references for organizations seeking to engage youth on climate.

TCAN is grateful to the students, to teaching assistant Bronwyn Clement, and instructor David Roberts for this opportunity to collaborate, and for the production of this resource.
