A discussion on COVID-19 and its impacts on racialized communities in Scarborough.
Racialized groups make up 67.4% of the population in Scarborough, and are largely responsible for the vibrant and diverse community that has been flourishing over the years. The widespread COVID-19 pandemic, however, has magnified already existing socioeconomic and health inequities impacting Scarborough residents, most of whom are Black, South Asian, Chinese, and Filipino. An equitable recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic will require rebuilding racial justice into the centre of our recovery process.
What About Scarborough? is a public forum hosted by Urban Alliance on Race Relations (UARR) in collaboration with Social Planning Toronto on August 20th from 5-7pm EST. We seek to form a dialogue around what racial justice means for Scarborough as the City reopens and rebuilds from the COVID-19 pandemic.
