The future of Indigenous-led conservation

Dene trailblazer Ethel Blondin-Andrew knows the importance of building Indigenous power: "It's a matter of life or death. It's a matter of being able to keep your voice."

On Thursday Jan. 21, join Conversations host Linda Solomon Wood for a special event with Ms. Blondin-Andrew, as they delve into her formidable life and career as the first Indigenous woman elected to the House of Commons and serve in federal cabinet. They will talk about the leadership of Indigenous Nations in conserving lands across the country. The way Indigenous stewardship is creating jobs, strengthening food security and inspiring youth. And the role of Indigenous-led conservation in meeting Canada’s climate and biodiversity commitments.

“The growing Indigenous conservation movement offers Canada a powerful opportunity to keep our promises to the country and the world.”

All this and more, in the first live event of our 2021 season. Presented by the Canadian Centre for Journalism, sponsored by Canada's National Observer.
