New Tax Credits for Clean Technologies - Part 1: What We Anticipate

As announced in the 2022 Federal Budget and the 2022 Fall Economic Statement three NEW investment tax credits, one for Carbon Capture, Utilization and Storage, one for Clean Technologies, and one for Clean Hydrogen will be rolling out in 2023 in Canada!

Initial details on these can be found in the Betakit article, NEWLY ANNOUNCED INVESTMENT TAX CREDITS A HUGE LEAP FORWARD FOR CLEANTECH CASHFLOW penned by Bryan Watson and Peter McArthur, but the the changes to the Income Tax Act are still in draft leaving cleantech companies and the companies who want to adopt their technologies wondering: How will this all ACTUALLY role out?

To address that uncertainty, CleanTech North is hosting a 2-part event. Part 1 will feature a look at how we THINK these credits will function based on the information we have now so that companies can begin planning to take advantage of these refundable credits as soon as they come into effect. Part 2, anticipated in April/May once the legislative drafts have been rolled into the Tax Act, will explore what we got RIGHT as well as explore any nuances that have emerged.
