New Gas Plants are Coming to Ontario!
But together we can stop them and build a clean energy future
Ontario is planning to massively ramp up the use of "natural" gas - a fossil fuel - to generate electricity for the province, even though we have cleaner and cheaper alternatives available.
If we expand or build new polluting gas plants, it will be nearly impossible for Ontario to meet its greenhouse gas emission reduction targets in time. Increased gas generation will also threaten municipal climate goals and increase local air pollution.
Luckily, we can stop the construction of new gas projects because they require municipal council resolutions in support in order to move forward, and city councilors listen to their constituents.
If you live in a city or town in southern Ontario with an existing gas plant, you have the power to organize and stop a possible expansion project! This includes: Toronto, Windsor, Sarnia, St. Clair Township, Brampton, Halton Hills, Newmarket, Greater Napanee, Cardinal, and the Ottawa area.
Join us for a conversation about the province's outrageous gas plan, clean alternatives for producing energy, how the coal phase-out was won, and how to stop gas plant expansions in your area.
Hear from organizers and energy experts and get ready to take action right where you are!
