The Canadian Institute for Climate Choices is undertaking a new project on aligning Canada’s electricity systems with net zero. As part of this work, the Institute has published a series of scoping papers on the technical dimensions of the transition. The purpose of these papers is to generate new thinking and useful insights from recognized experts on key issues and topics, in order to drive a more constructive and informed policy conversation.
Please join us for a lively panel discussion among the four paper authors where they will discuss their findings and answer questions.
The paper topics and authors are as follows:
Technical pathways to aligning Canadian electricity systems with net zero goals (by Blake Shaffer, University of Calgary)
Improving integration and coordination of provincially-managed electricity systems in Canada (by Pierre-Olivier Pineau, HEC Montréal)
Barriers to innovation in the Canadian electricity sector and available policy responses (by Sara Hastings-Simon, University of Calgary)
Enabling broader decarbonization through Energy Systems Integration (by Madeleine McPherson, University of Victoria)
The discussion will take place in English with live French translation and will be recorded.
