July 29 Clean up the Humber River Recreational Trail

Please join our Sunset Clean up and Outdoor Documentary night on Saturday July 29 @7pm, Memorial Park - 22 Little Ave near Cruickshank Park at Weston Rd and Lawrence Ave West. The sunset clean up begins at 7pm, then at 8:30pm, Toronto based filmmaker Victoria Lean will introduce her film "The Climate Baby Dilemma". We are so excited to host her first public screening of this film! The Climate Baby Dilemma explores what to expect when you’re expecting... the climate crisis. For an increasing number of people, a warming world is affecting their decisions about whether or not to have kids.

We will have refreshments available to all, please bring your own blanket /chair as the screen is being set up outdoors. There will be a childminding area set up for the kids to play while caregivers enjoy the film.

Drop ins are welcome for the clean up and to watch the documentary. However, the audio for this film will not be on speakers, we have rented headsets for registered volunteers to use. We will require RSVP and ID for the use of headsets. The film will have subtitles so that those without a headset can still enjoy the film. There are limited quantities for the headsets so please RSVP on eventbrite or by emailing us and ensure to arrive by 8:15 pm to secure your headset. We ask borrowers to be responsible for the safety of each headset and ensure they are returned at the end of the event in working condition with no surface damage.

Thank you to Cheels Wheels as one lucky volunteer will get a free bike tune up! Thank you Airmoves for hooking us up with the headsets!

Please note we weigh the bags of collected litter to keep track of our impact so please place your bags of waste near the city bins but not inside of the bins. Our organisers will weigh the bags with our scale at the end of the event and arrange waste pick up. The focus area for this clean up will be along the riverside of Cruickshank Park, following the trail towards St.Phillips Rd bridge (see picture).

Another way you can help us log our impact is by taking before and after photos of the section you are cleaning up. You can send the photos to us via email or instagram @humberriverpals or by using the hashtag #humberriverpals. Please note our organisers will be taking photos so if you prefer not to be photographed, do let us know. If you have any questions please ask Ana, Alex, Elissa or Ikinori.
