FINANCIAL STRATEGY IN TURBULENT TIMES WITH SCOTT SCHAFFER OF PIM CONSULTING

Financial Strategy in Turbulent Times with Scott Schaffer of PIM Consulting

September 28, 2021, 1-2:30 PM ET & September 30, 2021, 1-2:30 PM ET
Cost: $100 for both sessions

This decade is proving to be a chaotic environment to run an organization. How can we work toward maintaining and improving financial health while so many variables are unknown or changing?

This two-part workshop guides nonprofit leaders toward a deeper understanding of financial strategy and how to implement it in your organization.

Session 1 focuses on defining the elements of financial strategy, standards and metrics of financial health, and the essence of financial leadership: telling stories through data and building alignment of various stakeholders behind a plan. We’ll also explore the root causes of common financial problems and the concept of managing risk.

Session 2 presents a conceptual framework for the nonprofit business model, which we will apply to a case study. We’ll also explore concepts of cost analysis, return on investment and emerging human resources issues, which are increasingly central to nonprofits’ financial strategies.

Throughout both sessions we will allow plenty of time for questions and discussion.

Participants can expect several tangible takeaways. You will:

• Understand core components of financial strategy

• Be able to measure your organization’s financial health using essential standards

• Understand the five elements of the nonprofit business model

• Gain clarity on how risk management, HR management and operational infrastructure relate to your organization’s direction.

Participants will receive a range of resources that they can apply back at the office (or at home, if circumstances dictate).

Note that this is not a technical financial training. The primary audience is senior leaders of nonprofit organizations. Financial managers are welcome to attend as well, but financial expertise is not required.

A recording of the webinar and the presentation slides will be provided to registrants.
