About

As Canada’s economy transitions to net-zero and addresses infrastructure gaps from coast to coast, the construction industry is feeling the impact. How we plan, construct, build and maintain Canada’s infrastructure, energy resources and industry have and will continue to change rapidly as we respond to new technologies. And how we recruit, train and retain Canada’s skilled workforce continues to morph and progress to ensure our members have the skillset to build Canada’s net-zero economy and work on new technologies like hydrogen, small modular reactors, high-speed transit and more.

Canada’s Building Trades Unions have a long history of developing a highly-skilled, well-trained, safe workforce

one that is represented by strong labour unions who continuously advocate for better working conditions, pay and benefits reflective of the current industry. Today, as we transition to net-zero, our goals remain the same – to represent value on display every day. As we progress towards a net-zero economy, Canada’s construction industry can – and should – provide more opportunities for women, new Canadians, people of colour, First Nations and Indigenous peoples, veterans, youth and displaced workers. Today and well into the future, Canada’s Building Trades Unions are focused on Building Jobs for Tomorrow.
