The folks at Standing Rock are calling on all of us to make December a month of action in response to the Dakota Access Pipeline, and to the brutality that the water protectors have faced in their fight against it. We can start by moving our money away from this project.
TD bank is financing the Dakota Access Pipeline to the tune of $365 million. The Royal Bank of Canada is financing it with $341 million. Scotiabank is providing $100 million.
Let's come together and show solidarity with the water protectors at Standing Rock by CLOSING OUR ACCOUNTS with these banks. We will meet at 3pm in front of TD's main branch and make noise while we close our bank accounts there, before moving to RBC and Scotia to do the same.
Bring signs, and bring noisemakers. Let's make it clear why we're leaving.
