We're a group of local citizens against Enbridge's Line 9 tar sands oil pipeline because it threatens the waterways and safety of Toronto residents. We recognize that it does not have the consent of the Indigenous nations whose land it cuts through and name that as an injustice.
We're planning a festival this spring* to raise awareness within the communities it affects most and to work toward safety and justice. We want as many local community members (individuals or organizations) involved in its planning as possible. The planning team requires a diversity of experiences and talents to organize. The team will be coordinating the efforts to invite artists, to make the event accessible and respectful, to plan the schedule, seek funding, etc.
*Sunday May 15th, 2016, close to the Line 9 section located near the Finch/Yonge intersection. Specific time of day to be determined by the team.
