Fossil Fuel Divestment Rally at Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan
OTPP Headquarters 5650 Yonge Street at Finch (NW corner)
An invitation to all teachers, active and retired!
Friday the 13th of February is Global Divestment Day, a great day to tell the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan to divest its fossil fuel holdings and help save the planet!
Teachers, active and retired, as well as citizens concerned about the climate crisis are invited to join Toronto350 at this rally in front of the OTPP offices. If it is wrong to wreck the climate, then it is wrong to support and profit from that wreckage. At this point in human history, nothing is more important. We believe that institutions that invest our money and serve the public good should divest from fossil fuels now. The OTPP is the single largest pension plan in Canada and one of the biggest money managers in the world with net assets of over $140 billion. Getting the OTPP to divest its holdings in fossil fuels will be seen as a leading step in accepting our harsh reality and actively reducing our dependence on carbon-based resources. It’s one important way to help minimize the growing effects of global warming we see all around us.
So bring your placards, your voices, your noisemakers and your zeal!
See you at 1:00 pm on Friday, Feb 13!
