The Parks and Environment Subcommittee on Climate Mitigation and Adaptation will meet to consider the TransformTO staff report.
Recognizing that Climate Change is one of the most important issues of our time, the City of Toronto has established 'TransformTO' to produce a framework that will help the city identify the path to sustainability and suggest key starting points where we will need to begin with a goal of greenhouse gas emission reductions of 80% by 2050.
Two separate but related documents are being created:
A short-term strategy (2017-2020) outlining the actions that will allow Toronto to meet its 30% greenhouse gas emissions target by 2020 through policy and programming.
A long-term (2020-2050) approach that will identify how we can reduce emissions by 80% by 2050 while generating a healthier, more prosperous and equitable city.
People are invited to attend and share your comments. Please share this invitation broadly with those who may be interested in attending.
At the initial meeting in March 2015, the Subcommittee on Climate Change Mitigation & Adaptation heard over 200 residents who shared their visions and concerns regarding TransformTO's initiatives. Since then over 2000 Torontonians have participated in the project The full public engagement report is available at http://bit.ly/2cImhRo.
