CAN-Rac's: Communications research webinar with George Marshall

Thursday, April 4, 2019 - 11:00am to 1:00pm

Now more than ever we need a constructive conversation and strong voice for climate action in Canada. As part of the recent Talking Climate workshops held across Canada, CAN-RAC is offering an abbreviated, 75-minute webinar version to help share the latest research and offer insights into how to apply in our work.

The webinar will be led by George Marshall from Climate Outreach, a leading organization in climate communications and public engagement, with insights from Dr. Louise Comeau* and Dr. Erick Lachapelle* -- two of Canada's top researchers on public attitudes towards climate, energy and carbon pricing.

Participants can expect to:

  • Gain insight into how to talk about climate change in Canada based on recent ground-breaking national research, with a particular focus on priority audiences, narratives and messengers, and carbon pricing as a contested issue
  • Identify language and approaches to avoid
  • Learn about and provide input into next stages of this initiative

This event is part of an ongoing initiative to build strong public support for climate action in Canada and has been convened by Alberta Ecotrust Foundation, Clean Economy Fund, and the Canadian Environmental Grantmakers' Network, and is supported by members of their networks.

* Dr. Comeau and Dr. Lachappelle will appear via video. George Marshall will present live on the webinar.

Webinar presentations are in English, the Q&A parts will be facilitated in both French and English. You can ask questions in both languages.
